How to practice a practice?

This answer is so easy and so hard: just do it. Props to Nike for one of the best ads ever and also some very solid life advice.

Just do it.

You’ve chosen the thing you want to move toward, your goal.

You’ve chosen how you’ll practice getting there.

Now just do it.

Don’t concern yourself with how well you’re doing it. (Hint: you will NOT show up for your first yoga class and get your body into every posture perfectly. Also, that totally is not the point. More on that later.)

Don’t constantly rethink your practice. Whatever it is, it’s FINE.

Don’t judge yourself. Your practice is a no judgement zone, full of curiosity and acceptance and lots of laughing at everything that isn’t perfect. (So, you’ll pretty much be laughing all the time. Sounds good right?!)

Do it alone, if that’s your practice.

Do find others to practice with, if that’s what your practice is about.

But, more than ANYTHING...

Just do it.
